Best Sheet Masks for Sensitive and Acne prone skin

Which sheet masks are best for acne or sensitive skin?..

Sheet masks are the heart and soul of the Korean skincare routine. Not only are they super convenient, but they also come in different materials and formulas and can help to address different skin concerns. We included them in our 10-step Korean Skincare routine and now we’re going to talk about which masks we loved most for sensitive and acne prone skin, what worked best for us and what we’d love for you to try.

Looking after sensitive or acne prone skin can sometimes feel like its a full time job especially if you’re not too sure of the reasons behind skin sensitivity or the reasons why you’re breaking out. Some cosmetics often make things worse as they irritate, dry or congest your skin causing it to become even more sensitive.

Less is more is the golden rule and when you’re skin is screaming out for some TLC we sometimes tend to overload it with products that actually irritate it even more. The key is hitting the nail on the head and finding products that best suit your skin concerns and this is where sheet masks are great because they’re convenient and they give our skin the boost and love it needs.

Get to know your skin..

The first step is knowing why your skin behaves and reacts the way it does. Ask yourself:

  1. Do you notice that your skin changes seasonally or as the weather changes? This could also be a sign of seasonal allergies
  2. Does your skin tend to develop dry patches? When did skin cells clog pores and traps oil this can lead to dry skin and dry skin has a tendency to trigger breakouts as it is not as protected by natural oils that our bodies produce
  3. Take note of the causes behind why your skin is sensitive. Have you recently been using a different cleansing routine or tried a new product? Are the ingredients in your everyday products the cause of your skin sensitivity. Do you switch out new products all the time? Though you’re intentions are good and you’re trying to find which products work best for you, always make sure to give your skin some time to adapt to the new item before switching it out to something else.

Why sheet masks?

Sheet masks are also great because you can put them on while you sit and watch tv or while you’re watching some youtube or reading a book. Be mindful that they should only really be left on for the recommended time frame that is normally listed on the back of the packet (generally an average of 15 – 20 minutes). Sometimes we think that leaving it on longer will be better for our skin but it actually works in the reverse.

Sheet masks are soaked in concentrated serum and essences, the idea is to leave them on for the recommended duration and to rub in the remaining essence or serum into your skin when you remove the mask. We do not recommend leaving your sheet mask on until it’s completely dried as this means that you are potentially exposing your skin to have the moisture or the essences and serums drawn back out from your skin. Think of it like a sponge. You want your skin to soak in all the goodness from the serum and essence on the sheet mask but not to the extent that the sheet mask is completely dried as this means you’ve overdone it.

These are the sheet masks we tried and loved for our sensitive skin:
